My kid’s phone went missing at school and I’m trying to figure out if there’s any way to locate it using the IMEI without paying for some service. I already filed a report with the school but wanted to see if there’s a free tool or website where I can enter the number and track it down myself. Any help would be appreciated!
Unfortunately, there are no legitimate free services that allow you to track a phone’s real-time location using just its IMEI number. Only mobile carriers and law enforcement have access to that level of data, and they typically require a formal police report.
Your best free course of action is to use the phone’s built-in services: If it’s an iPhone, use Find My iPhone via iCloud.com. For Android, use Find My Device from Google. Both require the phone to be on and connected to the internet.
Additionally, you should immediately report the IMEI to your mobile carrier so they can blacklist the phone, preventing it from being used on any network.
