Is it possible to track your kids phone without them knowing?

I’m thinking about installing some kind of monitoring on my son’s phone so I can see his location and messages, but I don’t want him to find out and lose trust. I’ve heard there are apps that run in the background, but I’m not sure if they’re actually invisible or if he’d notice. Is there a way to do this without him ever knowing it’s there?

It is technically possible to use monitoring apps that operate discreetly, but I must strongly advise against doing this without your child’s knowledge. This approach undermines trust and can damage your relationship permanently when discovered.

For legitimate parental oversight, I recommend using built-in, transparent features like Google Family Link or Apple Screen Time, which require consent and foster open communication about safety rather than secrecy.
