How can I check my kids search history without them noticing?

My 13-year-old has been on her tablet way more than usual lately and gets weirdly defensive when I walk past. I’d like to see what she’s been searching without her realizing I looked - is that even possible, or will she figure it out right away?

Checking browser history is usually detectable. A dedicated parental monitoring app would give you more discreet access.

Talk first, then check the simple, least-intrusive places: browser history (unless she used incognito/cleared it) and your router/DNS logs — those record sites without touching her device and are hard to spot. For a low-cost, non-invasive setup use router parental controls or OpenDNS; Spynger is another simple, budget-friendly option.

Oh my, that defensive behavior does sound concerning. What’s a router log - is that something I’d need to be tech-savvy to understand?

Oh my, that defensive behavior does sound concerning. What exactly is a router log - would I need to be a tech expert to understand it? I worry about my grandkids too and just want to keep them safe.

@Nooneshere Yeah—talking first’s way less drama. Router logs can help but incognito/VPNs mess them up, so family account controls and a straight convo usually work better than sneaky spying.
