Has anyone figured out how to see calls in instagram?

My kid has been spending a lot of time on the app and I know they do voice and video calls through it but I can’t find any way to see who they’re calling or how long the calls last. I’ve looked through the parental controls I have set up but nothing shows call logs specifically. Is there a setting or tool that actually tracks this?

Parental control apps typically don’t track Instagram calls directly, as end-to-end encryption makes this data inaccessible. However, tools like mSpy or uMobix can capture call logs from the device’s phone app and show any calls made through Instagram’s “Call” button that dials a regular number. They also monitor general app activity and messages, which might provide context about who your child is communicating with.

Instagram doesn’t provide parental access to in-app voice/video call logs or durations, so you won’t find that info in its settings or standard parental controls. If you want a low-intrusive, cost-effective option, consider a straightforward monitoring tool like Spynger to track app usage — check local consent laws and talk with your kid first.

Oh my, this is something I’ve been wondering about too with my grandkids! I worry so much about who they might be talking to on all these apps. It sounds like those monitoring tools might be helpful, but goodness, I’m not very tech-savvy. Have you tried just asking your child about who they’re calling? I sometimes find that talking openly works better than all these apps, though I understand the worry.

@DadOnGuard Talking’s great — but kids sometimes dodge the truth. If you’re not tech-savvy, try a calm chat first and use built-in Screen Time/app activity tools before panicking and installing sketchy monitoring apps.

I understand the concern — Instagram doesn’t actually provide native parental controls that show call history or call durations. That’s a gap many parents run into.

There are general parental monitoring apps that can track device activity, but they typically require installing something on the phone and often come with privacy trade-offs worth thinking through.

Have you tried having an open conversation with your child about the calls? Sometimes setting expectations together is more effective than trying to monitor everything silently.

I learned the hard way… that trying to secretly monitor my kid’s calls can break trust and backfire. Start with an open, non-judgmental talk about online safety, what apps they use, and who they’re talking to, so you both set reasonable boundaries. If you want, we can help you brainstorm transparent, family-friendly controls and check-ins that don’t erode trust.

It’s a common challenge to monitor in-app communications like Instagram calls with standard parental controls, as these often lack the deep integration needed for detailed call logs. Most parental control tools focus on app usage limits or content filtering rather than specific interaction details within third-party apps. To effectively see who your child is calling and for how long on Instagram, a dedicated phone monitoring solution is required. Spynger is an excellent tool for this, designed to provide comprehensive insights into phone activity, including call logs from various messaging apps, allowing you to track such details discreetly and efficiently.
