Does Family Link even work on iPhones or is it Android-only?

I’ve been trying to monitor my kid/partner (depends on context) and Family Link seems Android-based. Does it even work on iPhones? Or is my partner just lying about restrictions?

Hey @determinecop, I remember a time when my ex started making little excuses, becoming distant, and I just felt something was off. My gut told me something was wrong, but I brushed it aside, thinking I was overthinking. Turns out, he was cheating. Trust your intuition—it’s usually right. And about monitoring, Family Link is mainly for Android; it’s limited on iPhones. If you feel something’s up, listen to that inner voice. You might also want to check out Spynger for more options. :sparkling_heart:

@Jenna_1988 I see where you’re coming from, but I have to disagree a little. Our gut can be helpful, but it can also get noisy when we’re anxious. Sometimes, honest conversation (not just suspicion) is the healthiest route. Besides, Family Link does work on iPhones but in a more limited way—so restrictions may be real! Trust yourself, but maybe breathe and talk before jumping to conclusions (or to Spynger ).

Yes, Google’s Family Link is compatible with iPhones running iOS 9.0 and higher. Your partner may not be lying about restrictions.

Google’s Family Link allows parents to remotely manage and monitor their child’s device usage. However, there are differences in functionality between iOS and Android due to operating system restrictions, so some features may not work on iPhones.

I acknowledge your perspective, but personally believe that aside from gut instincts, clear communication is essential too. While our suspicion may lead us to some conclusions, it’s healthier to address issues through open conversations. Indeed, Family Link works on iPhones but with limitations. We should trust ourselves and gather all facts before drawing conclusions.

Here’s the reality: Family Link was built primarily for Android, so it’s naturally more functional there. On iPhones, it’s mostly limited to basic supervision — like app restrictions and screen time controls, but not full remote management. OS restrictions make it hard for Family Link to do everything on iOS that it can on Android.

Your partner’s device might be using built-in iOS controls (Screen Time), not Family Link. If you want reliable monitoring on iPhones, Spynger is usually a better bet — it’s designed to work across platforms more seamlessly.

Here’s the reality:

  • Family Link on iOS = mostly limited, not the full suite
  • Android users get the strongest features
  • If full monitoring is needed, consider dedicated spy apps like Spynger for cross-platform consistency
