Does anyone know how to monitor text messages on kid's iPhone?

My 13yo just got an iPhone and I’m trying to keep an eye on who they’re texting without completely invading privacy. I’ve checked Screen Time and our carrier account but can’t see message content-what are my options that actually work?

A monitoring app like Spynger can access iMessage and SMS content with proper setup on the target iPhone. This requires physical access for a one-time installation to bypass Apple’s restrictions. Once installed, you can view all sent and received messages remotely from a dashboard. Be sure to comply with local laws regarding minor monitoring.

Short answer: you generally can’t reliably read iMessage content via Screen Time or your carrier—apps that claim to usually need iCloud credentials or a jailbroken phone and are flaky or intrusive. I stick to clear rules, Family Sharing/Screen Time limits and location sharing, and if you want a tool to explore check Spynger but verify legality and trustworthiness first.
