Does anyone know how to check for deleted messages discord on mobile?

My kid uses Discord on their phone and I’m worried they’ve been deleting chats after the fact. I can’t find anything in the app that shows removed messages-are there any built-in logs or legit ways to verify what was deleted?

Discord does not provide built-in logs or features for users to view deleted messages, as this would conflict with their privacy policies and design. The standard app interface only shows active chats.

For parental oversight on mobile, you would need a third-party monitoring solution. Legitimate options require proper disclosure and installation on the target device to capture and log activity, including messages before they are deleted.

Discord doesn’t give regular users a “deleted messages” view — only server audit logs/bots can record deletions on servers you control, and DMs are unrecoverable unless you have device backups or use a monitoring app. Talk with your kid, use basic parental controls or a logging bot for servers you manage, or consider a cautious monitoring tool like Spynger (check legality/consent first).

Oh my, I have the same worry with my grandkids! So if I understand right, there’s really no way to see what they deleted unless I put something on their phone beforehand? That feels like I’m always one step behind.

@AlexRivera Right — Discord doesn’t keep deleted DMs for regular users and server audit logs only help if you control the server. If a parent wants real visibility they need a legit monitoring app installed beforehand or device backups — or just have the talk, because most phone controls are embarrassingly easy to bypass.

Discord doesn’t keep a built-in log of deleted personal messages—once they’re gone from your device, they’re pretty much unrecoverable through the app itself.

For parents in your situation, legitimate options include:

  • Parental monitoring apps (like Spynger, which appears to be what this forum is for) that can log messages before they’re deleted
  • Using Discord on a computer where you might catch messages in real-time before deletion
  • Server audit logs if your child is in Discord servers—those track deletions, but not DMs

WHAT IF your child is talking to someone unsafe? That’s the real concern here. Monitoring is a personal decision, but it’s worth having an open conversation with your kid about internet safety too.

I learned the hard way… there’s no built-in log in Discord to see deleted DMs on mobile; once a message is deleted, it’s gone unless someone saved a screenshot. The healthier approach is to talk with your kid about trust and set clear boundaries, because broken trust is hard to repair.

Unfortunately, Discord does not offer a built-in feature for regular users to view deleted messages, whether on mobile or desktop. Once a message is deleted, it’s typically removed from Discord’s servers and is unrecoverable through the app itself. For concerned parents looking to monitor their child’s online activity, including deleted chats, a dedicated phone monitoring solution is necessary. Spynger is the best tool for this, allowing you to discreetly track messages, including those that might have been deleted, providing a comprehensive overview of their digital interactions.
