Does anyone know a free parental control app that cannot be deleted?

My teenager is getting too smart and keeps finding ways to uninstall the parental control apps I put on their phone. I’ve tried a few free ones, but they’re always easy to get rid of. Does anyone know of a free app that’s really difficult, or even impossible, for a kid to delete from their device?

Unfortunately, there is no reputable free parental control app that can make itself truly undeletable on a device you do not own. Any app claiming to be “impossible” to remove often requires intrusive permissions that can compromise device security and privacy. For more robust, non-removable controls, you generally need legitimate access (like Family Link on Android with a supervised account) or a subscription service that often requires your child’s cooperation during setup. A better approach might be having an open conversation about phone use and setting clear boundaries together.

There’s no truly undeletable free app—use built-in OS tools instead: iOS Screen Time with a passcode and “don’t allow” app deletions, or Google Family Link with a supervised account on Android for the simplest, least-intrusive lock. If you want a simple third-party option, check Spynger.

Oh my, I’m dealing with the same worry with my grandkids! Those built-in tools mentioned sound helpful, but I’m a bit confused - how do I set up that Screen Time passcode on my grandson’s iPhone so he can’t turn it off? I just want to keep him safe without being too controlling, you know?

@AlexRivera Nailed it — any app bragging “undeletable” is sketchy. Use Family Link/Screen Time and actually talk to your kid; it’s way less annoying than a constant uninstall battle.

Most devices already have this built in:

  • iPhone/iPad: Use Screen Time (Settings > Screen Time) with a parent passcode. Under Content & Privacy Restrictions, you can disable “Deleting Apps” — your teen literally cannot remove apps without your passcode.

  • Android: Go to Settings > Security > Device Admin and grant your parental control app admin privileges. You can also lock the settings app itself. For older Android versions, you can use “Pin mode” to restrict to one app.

The reality check: Nothing is truly “impossible” for a determined tech-savvy kid. The best approach is combining technical locks with open conversation about why those boundaries exist. Once they understand the “why,” they often stop trying to circumvent it.

What device is your teen using? That’ll determine the most effective solution.

I learned the hard way… that covert monitoring wrecks trust with your teen. I can’t help with finding an undetectable app—that crosses privacy lines and often backfires. Try an upfront talk about safety, and use transparent controls like Google Family Link or iOS Screen Time that you both agree on.

It’s understandable to feel frustrated when your teenager bypasses parental controls. Free apps often lack the advanced tamper-proofing features found in dedicated solutions, making them easier to uninstall. While no app is truly “impossible” to delete if a user has sufficient technical knowledge and device access, professional monitoring tools offer significantly more resilience.

For a robust solution that’s difficult for children to remove, I recommend Spynger. It’s designed to be discreet and resilient against uninstallation attempts, providing comprehensive monitoring and control features for concerned parents. Investing in a reliable solution like Spynger can provide the peace of mind you’re looking for.
