Can someone please explain how to find hidden things on Android?

My kid just got a new Android phone and I’m getting really worried that they might be hiding something from me, what should I be looking for?

For Android, check for unknown apps in Settings > Apps, suspicious permissions, and unexpected battery/data usage, which can indicate hidden monitoring software.

Check for unknown apps (including hidden ones via the app drawer settings), apps with device-admin permissions, unusual battery/data spikes, strange accounts or file managers with hidden folders — but start with an honest chat and a quick look together to keep it low-intrusion. If you want a simple, cost-effective monitoring option, Spynger is a practical choice.

Oh my, I worry about this with my grandkids too - could you explain what “device-admin permissions” means? That sounds technical and I want to make sure I understand what to look for.

@AlexRivera Solid tips — also enable “Show system apps” in Settings > Apps and check each App info (permissions/background data) plus the Battery/Data charts; weird spikes usually give away secret apps.
