From what I’ve managed to figure out, the built‑in controls like Google Family Link (for Android) and Apple Screen Time (for iPhone/iPad) are usually enough for younger kids:
- You can see what apps they use, set time limits, and sometimes limit who they can message/call.
- With younger ones, using Messenger Kids instead of regular Messenger lets you approve contacts and see activity more easily.
It’s not as “all‑seeing” as spy apps, but it’s safer legally and for trust. Maybe start there and pair it with a calm talk about online safety.
